Dorel Car Seat Recall Widens

Sears Canada says certain childrens car seats are potentially dangerous because the centre-front adjuster strap could loosen, which might reduce the effectiveness of the seat in a crash.

Dorel Distribution Canada, which provided the seats, will give consumers a repair kit to replace the strap.

Sears sold some of the Eddie Bauer and Safety 1st seats through its department stores, catalogues and online between June 2004 and September 2007.

The affected items include:

Eddie Bauer Car Seat
Eddie Bauer LaurelHurst Car Seat
Eddie Bauer Mercer Elite Car Seat
Eddie Bauer Lakemont Elite Car Seat
Safety 1st Enspira car Seat
Safety 1st Intera Car
Safety 1st Intera Car Seat

Dorel told Sears about the problem, but there have been no reported injuries, Sears said.

Consumers can cal Dorel at 1-800-219-0540.

Graco Car Seat Recall

Graco® has determined that on some ComfortSport™ car seats, the Lower Anchorage belt may have been misrouted during the assembly process. Click here to view correct vs. incorrect routings. On the affected seats, the Lower Anchorage belt was misrouted behind the shoulder portion of the harness instead of under the crotch belt/buckle portion of the harness. In the event of a crash, a misrouted Lower Anchorage belt could affect the performance of the car seat if it is installed in the rear-facing mode and the Lower Anchorage belt is attached to the vehicle's LATCH anchors.

You are not affected by this Safety Notice if you are using the ComfortSport forward-facing & have rerouted the Lower Anchorage belt according to the instruction manual for use in this mode.
